Hoop Lab Mitchell County Academy-A structured, competitive environment for serious development The Hoop Lab Mitchell County Academy brings Hoop Lab’s proven training model directly to Mitchell County through a satellite partnership with Mitchell County Parks and Recreation. This academy is designed for middle school and high school players looking to improve confidence, basketball IQ, and game-ready skills that translate to real competition.
Limited spots. High intent. Purposeful work.

Program Overview
  • Who: Middle School & High School players (boys & girls)
  • Where: Mitchell County Parks and Rec
    Bowman Middle School – Bakersville, NC
  • When: April through June (ongoing until summer season begins)
  • Format: 60-minute small-group training sessions
  • Capacity: Only 10 players per group
This is not open gym.
This is intentional development in a structured, competitive setting.

Weekly Schedule 

Mondays
  • 4:00–5:00 PM – Middle School Boys
  • 5:00–6:00 PM – Middle School Girls
  • 6:00–7:00 PM – High School (Co-Ed)
Thursdays
  • 4:00–5:00 PM – High School Boys
  • 5:00–6:00 PM – High School Girls
  • 6:00–7:00 PM – Middle School (Co-Ed)

What We Train Each session is built around all aspects of player development, including:
  • Ball handling & control
  • Shooting mechanics and shot creation
  • Offensive and defensive concepts
  • Game decision-making & basketball IQ
  • Competitive play with structure and purpose
  • Conditioning and movement within skill work
Every workout is designed to translate directly to games, not just drills.

Coaching & Leadership Sessions are led by John Williams and certified Hoop Lab assistants.
Coaching background includes:
  • ESPN basketball broadcaster
  • Former professional player & Harlem Globetrotter
  • 2x State Champion coach
  • Founder of The Hoop Lab
Players are coached with clarity, accountability, and standards that match higher levels of the game.

Pricing & Registration
  • $100 per month
  • $50 per individual class
Important policies:
  • No refunds
  • No cash payments
  • Online registration only
This is a separate Mitchell County membership, but still a Hoop Lab membership at its core.
